ITALTRANS: On the right path for 40 years

Italtrans celebrated forty years of business in 2025 and, in presenting its 2024 sustainability report, made no secret of its satisfaction with the results achieved, while also demonstrating its commitment to the future with a philosophy that combines business and sustainability. In the letter to stakeholders that opens the new report, owners Laura Bertulessi, Claudio, and Germano Bellina state: “We have long been aware that a healthy, ‘good’ company must be able to combine business with a culture of sustainability and social responsibility, entrepreneurial interest with the constant pursuit of quality and respect for work and the environment.”

What this ‘combining’ of business and sustainability culture means is clearly illustrated in the 2024 report – which, in addition to Mazzocco Srl and GB Trasporti Spa (already included in the 2023 financial statements) to Deliverit and Frigor Trasporti Orobico, to complete the scope of the Group – in which Italtrans presents the actions implemented, starting with the continuous maintenance of vehicles in circulation, through to the increase in the production of renewable energy from photovoltaic systems and, above all, the optimization and care of human resources, the true strength of the company.

The total revenue of the group, consisting of Italtrans and its subsidiaries, amounted to €490 million in 2024, while the fleet comprises 1,686 vehicles, 84% of which are Euro 6 compliant, i.e., offering the best levels of emissions and fuel economy. There are also 1,733 semi-trailers.

The commitment to the continuous renewal of the fleet has not only meant constant attention to maintenance but, with a focus on the environment, has also led to the use of hydrotreated vegetable fuels to reduce diesel engine emissions.

The photovoltaic park has grown further, reaching a total power of 25.6 MW (in 2023 it stood at 24 MW), as has its logistics capacity: Italtrans can now count on 831,100 square meters of warehouses, located throughout Italy, dedicated to the storage and handling of goods.

In terms of staff, the 2024 financial statements report a total of 9,468 hours of training provided to 1,776 direct employees (88% on permanent contracts and 74% under the age of 50).

There are also directly targeted initiatives to support the local area and communities – in addition to the special care taken to build infrastructures that blend into the green surroundings and have minimal environmental impact – for which Italtrans launched several promotional initiatives in 2024 and, among other things, acted as main sponsor for prestigious events in the Bergamo area, such as Maestri del Paesaggio.

In 2024, the company’s environmental certification was also renewed.

“Social and economic sustainability has always been a priority, as Laura Bertulessi reminds us, and after 40 years of activity, passion, and hard work shared with our families, our employees, and thanks to the trust of our partners, we are convinced that we are once again on the right track. Reporting annually on what we have achieved, beyond the economic results, encourages us to do even better and to look ahead with confidence.”
