Italtrans renews its fleet

Thanks to its well-established partnership with Daimler Truck, the Calcinate-based company has just purchased 60 new Mercedes Actros L 1848 road tractors to improve the performance of its fleet.

The engine of the new Actros – a 12.8-liter 6-cylinder engine – is compatible with HVO fuels, ensuring optimized fuel consumption with extremely low pollutant emissions. HVO biofuel, made from hydrotreated vegetable oils, is the latest frontier in the field of green mobility and sustainability in a sector, such as road transport, which is undergoing major transformations.

The new vehicles also represent a significant step forward in terms of safety: each vehicle is equipped with a complete package of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist 6 with pedestrian recognition, Active Drive Assist 3 for the latest generation of assisted driving, and Predictive Powertrain Control to optimize fuel consumption with intelligent gear shifting. Last but not least, Stability Control Assist ensures greater trailer stability in all driving conditions, providing first-class standard equipment that also considers the safety of pedestrians and motorists in addition to that of the driver. Technology, thus, at the service of transporters, without sacrificing on-board comfort, which is extremely important not only to ensure the best living and driving conditions for traveling personnel, but also to ensure greater safety. Comfort, in fact, translates into less fatigue and less risk of losing concentration on the road.

Italtrans’s recent investment of over €7 million comes on top of the nearly €24 million already spent in 2023 on the purchase of 86 tractors and 212 semi-trailers, demonstrating the Group’s belief in the strategic importance of maintaining a modern, reliable, and environmentally friendly fleet.

“The fleet,” explains Laura Bertulessi, CEO of Italtrans, “is a strategic part of the supply chain management system, with fundamental implications for staff well-being, reducing pollutant emissions, and road safety. This belief is part of our DNA, which is why we invest in a fleet that is always modern, efficient, and sustainable. We want to meet our customers’ needs with quality service and, at the same time, respect our commitment to social responsibility, a path we have been following for years.”
