The vehicle, equipped with a solar panel and aerodynamic deflectors, has entered service for Esselunga. The new solution increases the volume of goods transported per trip by 60%, thereby helping to reduce environmental impact and traffic on the roads.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership marks a new chapter in logistics operations, bringing to fruition a cutting-edge project for the client Esselunga. It is an innovative transport model centered on the double-deck semi-trailer\u2014an advanced solution capable of increasing the volume of goods transported by 60%, thereby reducing the environmental impact of logistics flows and helping to ease traffic on Italian roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features of the Burgers two-story model<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle is manufactured by the Dutch company Burgers, a world leader in the double-deck segment. Its key feature is the independent axle and suspension technology, which allows for usable cargo space even between the wheels. Thanks to this design, the vehicle has the same external dimensions as a standard semi-trailer, but its interior features two loading decks, each 1.82 meters high. The version used can carry up to 54 Euro pallets<\/strong>, compared to 33 in a traditional semi-trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loading and unloading are performed by operating the rear hydraulic tailgate, which allows for operation both on the ground and in the tilted position. On the selected vehicle, the tailgate is powered entirely by clean energy<\/strong> thanks to Im Efficiency\u2019s Solar On Top system: a 4.5 kWp solar panel covering the entire roof surface powers lithium storage batteries, ensuring continuous operation of the tailgate during loading and unloading, as well as powering the cab\u2019s electrical systems on the tractor unit. The system results in a significant reduction in overall fuel consumption, lowering CO2 and harmful emissions. Finally, the semi-trailer is equipped with V-Spoilers, which improve the aerodynamic coefficient by reducing drag for additional fuel savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Burgers double-decker<\/strong> has joined our fleet, helping to improve efficiency and sustainability in Esselunga\u2019s logistics operations. Used daily on routes connecting the hubs in Pioltello (Milan), Biandrate (Novara), and Sesto Fiorentino (Florence), the vehicle allows the same amount of cargo previously transported in three trips using standard semi-trailers to be moved in just two trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
